Road Network of Kythera

The Road network of Kythera is good but asks your cautiousness. The distances may seem short, but the roads often include hilly or winding terrain, which make your driving difficult.

In Kythera, drive on the right-hand side of the road as all over Greece. All road distances are measured in kilometres. Give way to traffic crossing from your right. The speed limit on the open road is 80 - 100km/h (48 - 60m/h). In the village areas the speed limit is 50km/h (30 m/h). Drivers and passengers must wear seat belts. Do not drink alcohol before driving in Kythera. Drinking and driving laws are strictly enforced.

Riders of cycles and motorbikes must wear helmets at all times. Rear and front lights on cycles are required. Motorbikes drivers should have their headlight on at all times.

You must carry your licence or permit at all times when driving. You will only be able to drive the same types of vehicles you are licensed to drive in your home country. The common legal age to rent a car in Kythera is 21 years.
