Kythera roads are many. For your transportation you can rent a car or a motorcycle. Notice that if you want to have acces to all the beaches and some non easy approachable areas, it is preferred to rent a 4WD car. On the island there are some busses with scheduled routes. There are car rental services at airport, ports and the main villages. Drivers with mobility difficulties, or anyone who prefers to, can rent automatic or adapted vehicles. To rent a car you must be 21 years old. You must have a valid Greek, European (for E.U. countries) or International (for countries that don't belong to E.U.) driving license held for at least one year.
Kythera is well-served by a sufficient number of taxis. There is a list, announced to any public points, with taxi call numbers. You can also look in wap.kythera.gr from your mobile phone, to find a taxi 24 hours a day. Taxis are usually silver - grey in colour. The fare is shown on the taximeter. Ask the taxi - driver for the prices or you’ll see them affixed inside the car.
